Rooted In Community. Focused On Results

Nancy Henry is the Ward 2 Councillor for the Town of Ajax - a barrier-breaking leader who made history as the first woman and the first person with multiple disabilities elected to this role. Currently, representing one of the most diverse wards in the region, Nancy’s work is grounded in practical solutions, inclusive leadership, and delivering results that matter to residents.

A resident of North Ajax since 2006, Nancy brings lived experience, policy understanding, and a deep commitment to building a community where every resident feels heard, respected, and supported.

Her leadership didn’t begin at Council - it began in the community.

Years before being elected, Nancy was organizing residents, advocating for safer neighbourhoods, and working directly with local partners to solve problems. She led efforts to address safety concerns at the Twigg Drive pedestrian walkway and founded the Fishlock Park North Neighbourhood Watch in partnership with Durham Regional Police, supporting more than 300 homes.

For over 16 years, Nancy has been a consistent and trusted voice on responsible development, community safety, and transparent municipal decision-making.

Outside of Council, Nancy is a business owner and national advocate for accessibility and healthcare equity.
As co-owner of Careswell Medical Supplies, she understands firsthand the challenges facing small businesses and the importance of reliable, inclusive systems. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her business supported frontline organizations - including police services - ensuring timely access to critical protective equipment.

Her leadership extends beyond Ajax. Nancy became the first female Executive member of the Canadian Association of PPE Manufacturers (CAPPEM), and contributed to the CSA advisory process on medical supply standards - helping shape safer, more equitable guidelines across Canada.

In 2026, Nancy was diagnosed with Autism/ADHD - adding new understanding to a lifetime of lived experience navigating systems that are not always built for everyone. This perspective continues to inform her work on accessibility, inclusion, and building better, more responsive municipal systems.
